Menos charla, más acción

LESS TALK MORE ACTION

A seed of Social Intelligence blooming from Guasca

Dreaming Robotics is much more than a school project, it's the first result of a "Social Intelligence" model that initiates a new model of democratic participation. This project was born from the dreams, commitment, and participatory strength of a group of young people from the municipality of Guasca, who demonstrated that when the community's voice is heard and teamwork is embraced, it's possible to build different, innovative, and hopeful realities.

This initiative, led by the TODOS Corporation, emerges within the framework of the "Less Talk, More Action" project, a space designed for students of IED Domingo Savio to experience real democratic participation. Far from being limited to theory or symbolic activities, this project proposed an active methodology in which the students themselves were protagonists from the beginning: they identified environmental issues, formulated viable initiatives, debated, organized, and finally participated in an electoral process to decide which project should be executed. It was a pedagogical and political exercise that instilled in them a vital experience of active citizenship.

Along the way, three projects were proposed. The one that received the most support from the student community was Patitas al Rescate (Paws to the Rescue), a deeply emotional initiative that sought to create a shelter for abandoned animals in the municipality. This project not only demonstrated the students' love and sensitivity towards animals, but also their leadership and organizational capacity. Although this initiative could not be executed due to administrative decisions of the board of directors, its impact has been lasting: the young people who led it had begun their animal activism before this project and have sustained it even after its conclusion, demonstrating an admirable commitment that deserves all our respect and admiration. Patitas al Rescate is an example that social leadership is not defined by resources, but by passion and perseverance.

The second most supported initiative was Dreaming Robotics, which was selected for execution. From the beginning, this project showed a clear commitment to the future: bringing a robotics and technology training space to Guasca for the first time, opening new opportunities for the municipality's youth. It was about creating an environment where technical knowledge, creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork were the axes of transformative education. And most importantly: all this arose from the students' own desire and vision.

It's worth highlighting the supportive attitude of the Mascontentas team, another of the proposed projects, which despite not being the winner, actively joined the work of Dreaming Robotics, thus strengthening the collaboration network and sense of community among the young people. This gesture speaks of a youth that understands that true change is not built by competing, but by adding wills.

Through collective work involving students, teachers, parents, volunteers, allied institutions, private companies, and state agencies, Dreaming Robotics became a reality. Thanks to the Ministry of ICT, 50 computers were delivered for the robotics classroom. The Domingo Savio Educational Institution provided an exclusive space for its operation. The Guasca Mayor's Office managed the furniture. Local companies donated 3D printers, robotics kits, security cameras, and other valuable resources. Designers from the TODOS Corporation contributed their creativity and time to give visual life to the space. And community volunteers painted, organized, and took care of every detail. Every person and organization that joined this dream made a new horizon possible for education in Guasca.

Thus was born the first technological node of the municipality: a classroom that is not only equipped with technology but will become a transformation engine for all areas of knowledge. From this space, students will not only learn to program robots but also to think critically, work in teams, imagine solutions for their environment, and become agents of change in their communities.

But beyond the material achievement, what makes Dreaming Robotics an inspiring model is its process. Here, true social intelligence was cultivated: a way of building knowledge, community, and future from real participation, from mutual listening, from solidarity. This experience demonstrates that when dialogue, collaboration, and shared work are given a place, extraordinary things can be achieved. What was experienced in Guasca is not an exception; it is a seed that can germinate in any corner of the world if there is a willingness to believe in youth, to trust in education, and to bet on a development model based on the common good.

Today, Dreaming Robotics is not just a successful project in execution. It is also a symbol of what we can achieve when all voices count, when education is put at the service of human development, and when we stop talking so much and start acting in community.

May this experience serve as inspiration for all projects developed through this Social Intelligence model. May this classroom not be the end of a process, but the starting point of a much larger educational and cultural transformation. Because dreaming is not a luxury: it is a right. Because democracy is built in small spaces to generate great impacts. And doing it collectively, with hands and hearts placed in the territory, is the best way to build a better society and a better future, one more dignified, just, and peaceful.
